Product Owner & Certified Scrummaster
Janel has been a Certified ScrumMaster since 2014 and has lead projects to completion by focusing on the daily tasks as well as the big picture. Janel and her team are passionate about projects that find efficiencies for routine tasks, solve problems and explore workflows - new or existing. They have a product owner background with project management and business analysis experience.
Janel Kinlaw received her BS in Information Systems from Susquehanna University in 2000. She worked for a consulting company programming and analyzing healthcare benefit rules for multiple clients. After receiving her MLS from Drexel University in December 2005, Janel worked at NPR Headquarters in Washington, DC cataloguing thousands of NPR stories, answering reference questions, and managing NPR's archives database. Starting in 2015, she managed the North Carolina Biotechnology Center’s contact management database and guided staff members in organizing information about their contacts. In 2018, she started Refining Workflow LLC to provide project management and business analysis to her clients.
Janel has been active within the Special Libraries Association (SLA) and the American Library Association (ALA) since 2005, serving on multiple committees both at the national and local levels. She is active volunteer and member with the Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP).
