Janel Kinlaw received her BS in Information Systems from Susquehanna University in 2000. She worked for a consulting company programming and analyzing healthcare benefit rules for multiple clients. After receiving her MLS from Drexel University in December 2005, Janel worked at NPR Headquarters in Washington, DC cataloguing thousands of NPR stories, answering reference questions, and managing NPR's archives database. Most recently, she managed the North Carolina Biotechnology Center’s contact management database and guided staff members in organizing information about their contacts.  

Janel has been active within the Special Libraries Association (SLA) and the American Library Association (ALA) since 2005, serving on multiple committees both at the national and local levels.  She is currently Conference Planner and Chair-Elect for SLA’s Leadership and Management Division (LMD) as well as the Carolinas Chapter Career Development Chair. In addition, Janel volunteers for a local technology education non-profit as well as serves on the board of directors of a parenting club.
