Janel's leadership skills, creativity, and commitment to excellence are reflected in everything she does. Her attention to detail is key in every aspect of the day to day management of a project. She is a product owner with project management and business analysis experience. Janel is passionate about projects that find efficiencies for routine tasks, solve problems and explore workflows - new or existing. Janel has been a Certified ScrumMaster since 2014.
Janel Kinlaw received her BS in Information Systems from Susquehanna University in 2000. She worked for a consulting company programming and analyzing healthcare benefit rules for multiple clients. After receiving her MLS from Drexel University in December 2005, Janel worked at NPR Headquarters in Washington, DC cataloguing thousands of NPR stories, answering reference questions, and managing NPR's archives database. Most recently, she managed the North Carolina Biotechnology Center’s contact management database and guided staff members in organizing information about their contacts.
Janel has been active within the Special Libraries Association (SLA) and the American Library Association (ALA) since 2005, serving on multiple committees both at the national and local levels. She is currently Chair for SLA’s Leadership and Management Division (LMD) as well as serving on the 2020 Annual Conference Advisory Council. In addition, Janel volunteers for TechGirlz, a local technology education non-profit, NC Open Pass, a local civic tech organization as well as serves on the board of directors of a parenting club.
